Tissot

The Tissot watchmaking company began in 1853. It was founded by father and son team Charles-Felicien and Charles-Emile Tissot. Since 1985 the company has been part of the giant Swiss watch group Swatch. The company is based in the Jura twown of Le Locle - which you can view on the Tissot webcam.

The Tissot brand has always been associated with horological innovations such as dual time zones and the anti-magnetic watch. They have also been at the forefront of experimentation with different materials - at times you have been able to buy Tissot watches made from wood and even stone!

In 2003 the company celebrated its 250th anniversay with another innovation: T-Touch technology. This is a watch with a touch sensitive face that can be used to control the various functions. Current touch screen watches in the collection include the T-Navigator, Silen-T and High-T.

Tissot also has a strong connection with sport. The company has a long association with Dorna Sports and is the official timekeeper to the MotoGP world championships. In 2005 Tissot announced that they had signed Indy 500 racing driver Danica Patrick as their "ambassador".

From 2006, Tissot becomes the official timekeeper for US NASCAR stock car racing. They are also introducing a special line of official NASCAR watches.
