The Timex Ironman

The Ironman watches are a very popular range of sports watches produced by Timex. They were first introduced in 1986 with the original Ironman Triathlon model.

There are various Ironman watches in the stores, they are typified by a chunky design and features aimed at the sporting person. Features vary according to model but frequently include Indiglo night-light, chronograph and lap timer. Most have a multi-function digital display.

Some of the most innovative of the Ironman watches now come with a dedicated Global Positioning System (GPS) unit. This communicates with the watch to allow the display of distances and speeds for a variety of athletic sports such as rowing or running (obviously it isn't suitable for all situations). You can also buy a special data recorder that allows you to collect data from a compatible watch and download it to your PC for later analysis.

Other versions of the Ironman include the aerodynamically designed Sleek collection and those with Optimum Viewing Angle designed to be read without breaking form.

For those who want to combine track with boardroom, Timex also sell the Ironman Dress range with analogue hands as well as digital display.
