The Rolex Yacht-Master
The Rolex Yacht-Master (sometimes spelt YachtMaster) is part of the Rolex Oyster Professional collection. It is designed to be "sporty yet elegant" and as you would expect given the name is waterproof to 100 metres (330 feet). The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master is a certified chronograph with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, date display and cyclops lens. The design was first introduced in 1922 with a variety of other sizes available to buy since 1944. You can currently buy the YachtMaster in either 29mm or 40mm versions and it can be enjoyed by a man or a lady.
The design's popularity rose greatly in 1997 with the introduction of the Rolesium version with a platinum finish. Other models incorporate yellow gold.
One of the most distinctive features of the Yacht-Master is the use of the Rolex Maxi Dial. This has larger markings making for easier visibility. This is especially true in low light conditions where larger markings mean more luminous material and easier reading.
As well as the oversize markings, the Yacht-Master also has a larger than normal minute hand, which again is easier to read under low light conditions.
With all these features, the stunning design and the usual Rolex reliability it's not surprising that the Yacht-Master has become one of the most popular Rolex models.
