The Kieninger Clock Company
History
Kieninger is a famous clock company from the Black Forest region of Germany with almost a hundred years of history. The company is known for its craftsmanship and in particular its mechanical movements which are recognised as some of the best in the world. The company was founded in 1912 by Joseph Kieninger. In 1917 it moved to the village of Aldingen where it still has its factory today. The current factory was built in 1991 and employs around a hundred craftsmen.
Even if you don't know the name Kieninger you might buy their clock movements without realising it. In 1993 the company became part of the Howard Miller clockmaking group. Many Howard Miller clocks such as their popular grandfather (longcase) clocks now contain the famed Kieninger movement.
